Vietnam world’s biggest rice exporters in 2020
Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh told the National Assembly on Monday, that Vietnam may become the leading global rice exporter in 2020.
The Vietnamese rice were exported more than 3 million tons of rice in first five month of the year 2020. And it worth nearly 1.5 billion USD.
A year-on-year increase of 12%, according to the Minister of Industry and Trade.
The Philippines is Vietnam’s biggest rice importer. Exports to other markets like China, Indonesia, Ghana and South Africa also increased sharply.
The rice export price in the first five months this year 2020 scaled up to 13% over the same period last year, reaching an average of 480 USD per ton.
With this flow of market trend, Vietnam may surpass Thailand in terms of price and exports, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Even after the COVID pandemic, the Vietnam rice exporting company will aggressively start working again. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Rice export will continue to rise in the near future as many countries start to resume imports and export business.
